How to Order Custom Hang Tags: A Step-by-Step Checklist
Ordering a first batch of custom hang tags can feel more complicated than it needs to be. Most of the friction disappears once you know the handful of decisions that actually drive price and timeline, and which ones can be figured out later with our design team.
Here is the checklist we walk every new customer through, in the order it actually matters.
Step 1: Pick your stock and finish
Start with the finish, not the artwork. Kraft, foil-stamped, embossed, and die-cut shapes all carry different minimums and lead times, and knowing which one fits your budget and brand narrows every decision after this.
Step 2: Nail down a quantity range
You don’t need an exact number yet — a range is enough to get an accurate quote. Round to the nearest price break (500, 1,000, 2,500) rather than agonizing over an exact SKU count.
| Decision | What we need from you | When it’s due |
|---|---|---|
| Stock/finish | A style pick from our product pages | Before quoting |
| Quantity | An estimated range | Before quoting |
| Artwork | Vector file or reference photo | Before mockup |
| Stringing | Twine, ribbon, or none | Before production |
| Ship date | Your in-hands deadline | Before production |
Step 3: Send artwork — even rough artwork
Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) go straight into production prep. If you only have a PNG or a photo of a logo, send it anyway — our designers recreate print-ready artwork at no charge as part of your mockup.
Step 4: Approve a mockup before anything is produced
We return a photo-real mockup within 24 to 48 hours. This is the moment to check every detail — color, size, stringing, copy — because production begins immediately after you approve, and our return policy treats the approved mockup as the final spec.
Choosing for your order
If you’re ordering for a specific launch date, work backward: add our two-week production window to whatever ship-transit time you need, and submit your quote request early enough to leave room for at least one mockup revision.
